Autumn colours and half-term fun

Spectacular autumn colour and brisk walks in the fresh air are what visits to the RHS gardens are about in October, as well as kids’ half-term events.

Here’s what you can look forward to this month:

Until Oct 4: The Bath House Gallery Showcase – Wood, Harlow Carr
Striking wooden pieces for the home as well as practical items, including tree-themed artwork and wooden jewellery.

Until 29 Oct: Exhibition: A Capable Businessman, RHS Lindley Library, 80 Vincent Square, London SW1P 2PE
During the 18th century, Northumberland-born Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown transformed the English landscape through his large-scale redevelopment of grand estates and gardens across the country. In the year of the 300th anniversary of his birth, this exhibition at Lindley Library explores his working practices, revealing some of the secrets to his successful business. The exhibition focuses on his newly conserved Account Book, the only one of Brown’s personal account books to survive.

The garden will be open early at 7.30am for photographers.
