Make neighbours green with envy at stunning Chrysanthemum
Go green this year with Chrysanthemum Jade Green, cover star of Woolmans new Chrysanthemum and Autumn Plant Catalogue.
It produces large, incurved lime-green bloom for several weeks from November onwards and is ideal for greenhouse culture and disbudding to produce large heads. A pack of three plants costs £6.95, with six at £11.90, with delivery either from late March or mid-May.
There is also carnation Green Magma, with green pompom heads and red-flushed tips. A pack of five plants costs £10.95.Although Woolmans’ fame rests on its exhibition-type chrysanthemums, it also supplies plants suitable for general garden and container growing.
New for 2017 is its Paisley Collection – a range of free-flowering plants from the Jogger series of pot chrysanthemums in five colours. The plants grow to just 50cm and produce masses of double blooms from September to December. A collection of one plant of each costs £9.95, while a double collection of 10 plants costs £16.90.
Woolmans is also well-known for dahlias – cactus-flowered peach Crazy Legs, decorative red Strongfire, and ball head yellow Graceland are brought together as the Carousel Dahlia Collection to give a bright and long-lasting blend of ‘fairground’ colours. A collection of one tuber of each costs £9.95, with a double collection for £14.90.
Look out for hardy perennials, including Echinacea PowWow Wild Berry, Helenium Helena Red Shades, Monarda Bergamo, Heliopsis Summer Nights and Gaura Sparkle White, costing £7.95 for five plants, or buy one of each for £8.95; anyone who buys three packs may claim the cheapest free.
