Garden gnomes and ornaments

Hate garden gnomes? I usually do but here is a couple that stands out from the crowd. The Non-Conformist Gnome by artist Ottmar Hörl comes in a range of colours, proudly raising his middle finger to the world. The swearing gnome was originally part of a 1994 art installation in Seligenstadt, Germany where 1,000 blue gnomes were distributed across the city. They remained until someone took them. It was then presented at the 2006 Art Fair in Amsterdam. The gnome is made of recycled plastic and signed and numbered editions are available (poa). He comes in black, white, green, yellow, red, orange, blue, silver and gold, price £59.99, www.limelace.co.uk.
