Thompson & Morgan

New owner for gardening brand

One of the biggest names in UK gardening, Thompson & Morgan (T&M), has a new owner.

Yesterday (Tuesday, March 7), the BVG Group acquired 100 per cent of the share capital of Branded Garden Products, T&M’s parent company. The new combined group will have a turnover of £140million per year.

BVG Group is a market leader in the direct sale of sporting supplements, fishing tackle, footwear, clothing, home and garden products, with brands such as Telegraph Shop, Mirror Reader Offers, Clifford James and Mercia Garden Products, with a strong background in e-commerce and multi-channel marketing.

Recent additions to the T&M range of seeds and plug plants include garden ready plants, nursery stock, the Van Meuwen range of budget packet seed, hedging, and aquatic plants, along with an assortment of complementary items such as compost, fertiliser, and related items.

BVG is based in Brecon, Powys, Wales, with a distribution centre in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.

T&M will remain in Ipswich, its home since the company was founded in 1855 and will continue to be run as a separate business with its current management team working with BVG.
