Gardening charity Thrive is holding its first major fund-raising day on Wednesday by encouraging people to become ‘suited and welly-booted’ for work.

The idea is simple – give up the high heels for the day, wear your wellies instead and make a donation to the charity.

There is a welly campaign page on JustGiving where you can give your donation, or donate via text with BOOT03 and the amount you want to give to 70070 – for example, BOOT03£5.

It’s easy enough for me to spend every day in wellies but this isn’t just for gardeners, so spread the word.

Thrive is a charity which uses gardening as therapy for vulnerable, disabled and mentally ill people, so your cash is going to a good cause.

Upload it: Put your welly pictures on social media, using the #welliestowork hashtag. Thrive on Twitter – @thrivecharity.

You could win a fantastic welly boot store donated by Thrive supporters Forest Garden by raising the most money.

Welly day is supported by Thrive’s Garden Ambassador David Domoney, who has a video message – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VV-tGrM0nk
