Five landscaping companies in APL Avenue competition

Gardeners' World Live 2018Inspirational, aspirational but relatable gardens are to be the highlight of BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2018, taking place at Birmingham’s NEC from June 14-17.

For the third year running, the Association of Professional Landscapers’ (APL) show garden competition, APL Avenue, offers the chance for five contractors to feature their designs.

The winner will be awarded Best APL Avenue Show Garden by the Show Garden Assessment panel and the public can vote for the visitor’s favourite.

Members of the APL team and the landscapers will be on hand at the event to meet visitors and share their knowledge, demystifying the process of a garden build and giving advice on costs and options.

Each garden will receive a contribution towards the build, with Marshalls supplying products from its domestic range and Rolawn contributing turf and topsoil.

The landscapers are:

  • A to Z Gardening Landscaping Services Ltd, designed by Levente Papp and Alina Ciobotaru
  • Conquest Creative Spaces, designed by Ross Conquest
  • KeyScape Gardens, designed by Wilson Associates Garden Design
  • Living Gardens, designed by Peter Cowell
  • Timotay Landscapes, designed by Timotay Landscapes

Bob Sweet, horticultural director of BBC Gardeners’ World Live, said: “We have no doubt that these five gardens will offer visitors a wealth of take-home ideas for their own gardens whilst being stunning examples of great design in their own right.”

Peter Cowell, of Living Gardens, takes part for the second time.

He said: “Our success at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2017, where our APL Avenue ‘It’s Not Just About the Beard’ garden won a Gold Award and was Designers Favourite, was followed by months of public interest, job enquiries and even an appearance on BBC Two’s Gardeners’ World – so we decided to have another go in 2018!”
