February 12–14, Lindley and Lawrence Halls, London
Fresh colour and early-flowering plants are the hallmarks of the first RHS show of the year, with inspiration to help you kick-start the gardening year.
The UK’s best growers will be selling snowdrops, spring flowering clematis, daffodils and posies.
The Late event (February 12) features free workshops, street food, and a free drink on entry.
The Lindley Hall will be transformed into a snowdrop extravaganza, with an installation featuring rare and unusual snowdrops donated from gardens around the country, cascading from the ceiling.
Each specimen will be labelled with its variety and origin and specialist snowdrop nurseries attending include Harveys Garden Plants, Avon Bulbs and W & S Lockyer.
Winter Garden Wonderland
In the Lawrence Hall is a Winter Garden wonderland, with a recreation of the planting at RHS Garden Wisley’s winter walk.
There will also be interactive walks around the feature with experts from Wisley, who will be talking about the different plants and advising on how to use them.
Enjoy innovative displays and get expert advice from growers such as Dibleys, Plantbase and The Botanic Nursery.
Pennard Plants will be selling a large range of seed potatoes as well as running sessions (including tastings) with visitors.
Birmingham Botanical Gardens will be displaying its National Collection of Cyclamen, and guiding visitors around the exhibit.
Valentine’s Day art
Workshops will be taking place on both days, including painting a snowdrop Valentine’s card with the Chelsea School of Botanical Art, and making your own Valentine’s bouquet using ‘the language of flowers’ – these can be booked online.
A full programme of talks is planned, with speakers including Alys Fowler and Pippa Greenwood.
The RHS Lindley Library will be offering free curated tours on each day, introducing the exhibition ‘Collecting in the Clouds: Early 20th Century Plant Discoveries’.
The late evening runs from 5-9pm on February 12; 11am-8pm on the 13th and 11am-6pm on the 14th.
