Three weeks behind – garden plants try to make up for lost time

A couple of fine days and plants are lurching headlong towards spring proper.

Of course, as I write this, there’s a weather warning for rain in force outside and it’s absolutely lashing it down.
My clay soil will be virtually unworkable in the long bed – so much for trimming the top of the hedge this week, as I need to stand on it!
Anyway, let’s raise a glass to the future and the glimpse of spring I enjoyed yesterday in a six-hour stint of planting, tidying and generally pottering about.
