Tune in, BBC Two Monday, April 16, 6.30pm
Britain in Bloom is the subject of a new TV series which starts tonight (April 16) on BBC Two, hosted by Eat Well for Less presenter Chris Bavin.
The largest community gardening competition in the country, run by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), captures the power of Britain in Bloom and community gardening to change lives and places for the better.
Each of the 15 self-contained 30-minute episodes tells the story of one group’s campaign in one community in the UK.
Community gardening projects
Every year up to 300,000 volunteers take part, donating about 11 million hours of their time to community gardening projects.
Any community, no matter what size, can join, competing to win either a Bronze, Silver, Silver Gilt or Gold award.
In each episode, Chris meets the characters who galvanise local volunteers and learns about the key gardening projects, following them right through to judging day and the verdicts.
