Festive season kicks off on Saturday, November 17, at 1pm
You can expect the unexpected when Santa arrives for his stay at Beamish Museum – transport in the past has included an RAF Sea King helicopter, motorbike, fire engine, camels and ‘unicorns’!
This year will be no different, with a procession of vintage vehicles, huskies, marching bands and Mrs Claus in her sleigh marking Christmas at Beamish, which runs from November 17-Christmas Eve, from 10am-4pm at the County Durham museum.
They will make their way through The 1900s Town street to the Fairground, for the Christmas tree lights switch-on.
Experience the magic of a traditional Christmas as you join in the celebrations at 1820s Pockerley Old Hall, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village and 1940s Farm.
- Meet Father Christmas in his grotto: Say hello to his reindeer at Pockerley Waggonway. £5 per child includes a small, traditional gift.
- Beamish Bazaar: Find quirky gifts and festive food at the bazaar in The Town park.
- Winter fun fair: Take a ride on the gallopers and shuggy boats or try your hand at the sideshows. Galloper rides £1.50, shuggy boats and sideshows 50p.
