Eco-friendly crafts and activities and you don’t need a garden

Get your kids out of the house and into nature and gardening with these innovative and environmentally-friendly activity boxes, delivered straight to your door.

Mud & Bloom was founded just over a year ago by Bristol mum-of-three Anja ffrench, who wants parents to remember the benefits of getting outdoors and connecting with nature.

The monthly subscription box includes everything you need for two seasonal nature crafts and two gardening activities.

Each box also contains nature news, quizzes and spotting games which help children aged 3-8 learn about plants, insects, birds, soil, rainfall and the seasons.

Accessible to everyone

Activities are designed to be accessible to people with or without gardens.

Each box includes organic, peat-free compost pellets to enable anyone to get growing immediately regardless of what space they live in.

Activities are developed by qualified teachers and support the national curriculum with influence from Forest School, Montessori and Steiner education.

She said: “Studies show there is more and more of a disconnect between children and nature, and increasingly experts link this disconnect to the rise we are seeing in childhood stress, anxiety and depression.

Proven benefits

“It is vital that children have regular contact with nature, with proven benefits including enhanced brain development, improved concentration and mental health – as well as helping them stay fit and healthy.

“Children need to spend time outdoors all year round and not just in the summertime.

“The feedback has been amazing, with parents telling me that receiving the box each month is enabling them to do activities with their children that they always hoped they would be doing, but never had the time to put together.”

A box costs £7.95 for one child and £11.95 for a sibling box with free shipping in the UK.

Environmentally friendly

Boxes are environmentally friendly with plastic-free materials and packaging, certified organic seeds where possible and organic peat-free compost pellets.
Mud & Bloom has a combined following across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram of 17,500, using the hashtag #mudandbloom:
