Making the most of the light nights

Late Evening Openings, dates vary, all gardens
The gardens stay open late on selected evenings with live music, theatre and cinema. For more information visit www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/whats-on-at-rhs-gardens.

Until October 4: Spectacular Plants trail, Wisley
Inspired by the book Spectacular Plants and How to Grow Them by Stewart McPherson, the trail is aimed at eight-12-year-olds. Share pictures of your #spectacularplants with the RHS.

Until June 30: Embroidering Harlow Carr – Winter, Spring and Summer, Harlow Carr
Head to the library to see three embroidery panels depicting garden scenes from winter, spring and summer.

June 15-16: Plant Society Show, Wisley
Displays from 20 plant societies featuring delphiniums, clematis, sweet peas, iris, dahlias, alpines, fruit, vegetables, hostas, carnivorous plants, bonsai and cactus.

Botanical art

June 15–23: Anita Nowinska Art Exhibition, Hyde Hall
A botanical-themed art exhibition in the Hilltop Lodge.

June 15–July 21: Rose Festival, Rosemoor
A five-week celebration of England’s national flower, including weekly floristry demonstrations. Many of the garden’s 200 varieties of rose feature on the summer trail and map.

June 16: Father’s Day, all gardens

June 20: Meet the Designer – RHS Hampton Court Garden Festival, Wisley
See a preview of the design for Matthew Childs’ Hampton Court Show Garden, meet him and hear inside stories on what it is like to design an award-winning garden.

Flower Show celebration

June 21-23: Harlow Carr Flower Show 
Celebrating 70 years of Harlow Carr’s development as a garden. Along with a tea and cake party you can there browse, buy, and pick up advice from specialist nurseries and garden trade stands. Enjoy a programme of talks, demonstrations and music in the garden.

June 21-23: Rose Weekend and Craft Market, Rosemoor
With specialist rose advice, identification, free guided walks around RHS Rosemoor’s rose gardens and a floral-themed craft market in the Garden Room.

June 22-23: Circus Day, Wisley
Circus artists will perform spectacular feats, then visit the have-a-go area to try out some of the tricks with guidance from the experts.

June 27: Living Spit Quiz, Wisley
Book ahead for this quiz with a difference, where each question is acted, sung, dance or mimed.

June 29-30: Carnivorous Plants Weekend, Rosemoor
Discover the world of pitcher plants and Venus fly traps. Displays and drop-in advice.
