Stocking fillers for beginners, children and seasoned gardeners

It’s often difficult for non-gardeners to buy for their horticultural friends and family, so here is the first of my Christmas gift guides – and this one is all about goodies under £10 – and not just stocking fillers, either. If you can’t find any particular gift online, check out the store locator at each website to find a stockist near you.

If you want to spend a bit more, check out my gifts from £10-£20 here.

Munakuppi, Mr Fothergill’s, £3.95

Ideal stocking-fillers to encourage kids to get into gardening. The ceramic egg cup-style planters are called Munakuppi (Finnish for egg cup). Each Munakuppi includes two sachets of seed – basil for short ‘hair’ and ryegrass for long ‘hair’ – plus compost and growing instructions. There are also six animals, four smiley faces or four cats. These kits come with a pot, coir pellet, grass seed and instructions, available from major garden centres. To find one near you, visit www.mr-fothergills.co.uk.
