Going the Full Monty (not Monty Don though) for gardening charity

A group of game gardeners has stripped off for the Naked Gardeners 2020 calendar to raise money for horticulture trade charity Perennial with proceeds helping fund support services for people facing a wide range of difficulties.

The cheeky chaps posed for photographer Debbie Jolliff at Fullers Mill, Perennial’s garden near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, and MazeGarden near Chichester.

Anita Bates, director of marketing and fundraising at Perennial, said: “It’s fantastic that this group of particularly hardy fundraisers are still willing to go the whole hog for their industry charity.

“We love seeing the comments from supporters on social media at the beginning of each month as the next calendar photo is revealed, and can’t thank the chaps enough for bringing a smile to so many faces with their ‘body positive’ take on the classic nude calendar.”

Serious message behind the fun

The Naked Gardeners 2020 calendar is light-hearted fun and makes a great Christmas stocking filler for the gardener in your life, but it also helps spread a more serious message.

There is a growing number of people in horticulture facing really difficult times, which can affect them physically, mentally and financially.

Many people that Perennial help have been through a life-changing event such as serious injury, long-term illness, family bereavement or redundancy.

The demand for the charity’s services continues to rise and so all funds raised make a real and lasting difference to people’s lives.

I’ve not used all the pictures – if you want to see more, buy the calendar! The 2020 Perennial Naked Gardeners calendar costs £12.95 and is available from shop.perennial.org.uk.
