RHS and The One Show’s competition for gardening pictures runs until May 18, 2020
Many people have taken up gardening to help them cope with the pressures of lockdown and The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and BBC1’s The One Show have joined forces to launch a competition to win 4 tickets to next year’s Chelsea Flower Show.
The show was cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic but it is still being celebrated online with Virtual Chelsea, from May 18-23.
One winner from each category will receive 4 tickets for RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021* and a special RHS Award commending their garden.
The RHS and The One Show are asking you to share photos of your green spaces – in one of the four categories below – and hear how plants are helping you through these challenging times.
- Back Garden
- Front Garden
- Indoor Garden (houseplants, windowsills, balconies, etc)
- Kids’ Corner Garden
Organisers hope that people will flood their social media feeds with positive images of plants and beautiful gardens to help ease anxiety, using the hashtag #mychelseagarden.
People can enter via The One Show online (where you can find the terms and privacy notice) by submitting one current picture of their garden in one of the four categories and say in up to 250 words how the garden is helping them.
The competition is open now and closes at midnight on Monday, May 18, 2020.
Judges are The One Show presenter Alex Jones, Monty Don, RHS Head of Shows Judging, James Alexander-Sinclair and Sue Biggs, RHS Director-General.
Alex Jones said: “From window boxes and balconies to the more traditional outside space, I can’t wait to hear how growing and planting has been helping people get through this extraordinary time and I’m excited to see the results of everyone’s creative efforts.”
