RHS Tatton Park: press day in photos

Dig in North West: Preston Railway Free Buffet for Soldiers and Sailors Garden. The exhibit has been made by children, veterans and people living with dementia, creating a scene from WW1. Pictured is Julia Sazon, 10, from Lea Community Primary School , Preston. Picture; Mark Waugh/RHS

Pictures paint a thousand words when it comes to plants

There are some stunning show gardens at this year’s RHS Tatton Park, especially planting combinations with great inspirations to take home. Rather than have me rabbiting on about them, it’s best you see the pictures and make up your own mind.

My favourites are The Cactus Direct Garden – drought-tolerant plants, spikes, cacti, pines, rust – what’s not to love? Also in my top five is the Let ‘Em Grow Urban Retreat Garden – planting gone mad!

Also, you’ll find no celebrity pictures here – they get in the way of the plants. Many thanks to RHS photographer Mark Waugh, who must be lying in a darkened room by now! Read more about the award winners here. Read about the Young Designers at the show here.
