Grow up, not out: transforming walls into a wildlife-friendly oasis
Vertical gardening has been given a boost with the Eggologic modular pod system, designed to bring nature into even the smallest spaces. Eggologic’s modular architecture builds a vertical garden using a range of “pods”. Plant pods house flowers, herbs or vines and wildlife pods such as nesters for cavity-nesting birds or “hive” pods designed for solitary bees.
Eggologic – made from recycled resin
All pods are made from 100 per cent recycled, eco-friendly HDPE resin (with recycled/recyclable materials in the inserts). This is durable and weather-resistant.
The system is modular and easy to assemble (pods snap into place on a universal mounting shell), and users can expand or reconfigure their green space. Vertical planting is ideal for compact gardens, courtyards, and balconies.
Four Eggologic products in the range
Here are the four choices:
- Planter (£27): Engineered with botanists for growing herbs, flowers and compact veg. An insulated dual-shell design promotes airflow around roots and guards against temperature swings. Built-in drainage prevents overwatering.
- Trellis (£23): Pair with the Planter pod to support climbing and trailing plants. Its open, sculptural front structure doubles as a feeding space in winter. Place nesting materials in the front, helping birds build safe nests.
- Nester (£33): Created with ornithologists to provide a secure, climate-optimised enclosure for cavity-nesting birds. Features include a protective canopy and ventilation ports. Textured detailing for safe footing also helps deter predators.
- Hive (£33): Developed with biologists as a cool, protected nesting chamber for solitary bees.
