Exclusive autumn-planting garlic ideal for container growing
The world-renowned Isle of Wight Garlic Farm and DT Brown have teamed up to offer the exclusive hardneck garlic Czechmate.
This exotic garlic hails from Moravia in the Czech Republic. It was trialled and bred by Colin Boswell and his team from the Garlic Farm. It’s an autumn-planting variety which is best planted in October and by January at the latest.
Czechmate develops a glazed purple skin. This thinly veils a beautifully striped purple bulb underneath, containing perfectly formed large, plump purple cloves packed tightly around a hardneck stem.
Czechmate is a hot and spicy bulb
Hot and spicy, it delivers a stronger flavour than most other UK kinds of garlic. It has pronounced heat which is excellent for creating full-flavoured dishes, an essential ingredient for Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. A vigorous variety, it has intermediate rust resistance, too.
