Rich jewel shades brighten up late-season borders
Struggle with colour in your late summer or autumn garden? Try these Bislet Collection Chrysanthemums from Woolmans at Johnsons. The firm is increasing its chrysanthemum plant range with a collection of four varieties to add fire to end-of-season borders. Woolmans’ Tom Stimpson said: “We are delighted to offer this glorious collection, which is made up of plants from The Bislet Series.
“The plants are strong and sturdy, bloom abundantly and provide the most amazing flowers in shades of rich purple, deep bronzed red and golden yellow.”
Bislet Collection Chrysanthemums – grow them under cover
Flowers from The Bislet Series are ideal for cutting, lasting for weeks in the vase. You can grow plants outdoors, or under cover in a cool greenhouse for a later display. The Chrysanthemum Bislet collection from Woolmans includes two plants of Bislet Purple and one each of Bislet Pink, Bislet Red and Bislet Yellow.
Finally, Tom added: “We grow them in two or three-litre pots, sink them into the ground. Then we lift and move them under cover when the nights become colder.”
UPDATE: Woolmans products are now under the Johnsons brand, visit johnsons-seeds.com. Bislet chrysanthemums are still featured, although they are only available in season. Dispatch time is mid-May.
