Blagdon’s Clean Pond Pods treat major water quality issues in one go

A wildlife-friendly pond treatment tackling five of the commonest water problems at once has been launched by Blagdon. Clean Pond Pods act against blanket weed/string algae. They also consume sludge, make tap water safe for top-ups, feed aquatic plants and reduce the need for pond/filter cleaning.

Andrew Paxton is Blagdon’s development manager and a dedicated product designer. He said: “Our Clean Pond Pods are an easy-to-use solution for some of the most common and frustrating problems garden pond and fish keepers, as well as those with wildlife, natural and swimming ponds, will have to face.

“Our unique formulation has been created as a result of more than 50 years of experience and is safe for the natural environment. Our soluble pouches harmlessly dissolve, releasing the gentle active ingredients, allowing them to get straight to work to clean and clear your pond.

‘Solving dirty pond issues’

“They are designed to attack the murkiest of conditions, solving and fixing dirty pond issues and promoting a clean environment, in which fish, including koi carp, and plants such as water lilies can thrive.

“Our Pods eliminate blanket weed and pond sludge and, by removing the chlorine, make it safe for people to use tap water to top-up their ponds. They also reduce the need for pond/filter cleaning and maintenance, and feed aquatic plants, too. Our Pods are pet and wildlife-kind and help to actively promote a better environment for tadpoles, frogs, newts and toads.

“The Clean Pond Pods can also be used in conjunction with our Clean Pond Machine Filter for exceptional results. However, they are equally effective for ‘direct to pond’ use and with other filter systems too. Results will be most effective when used over a consistent period of time. They’re not an ‘overnight’ solution.

Wildlife-friendly pond treatment for all sizes

“Blanket weed reduction should become apparent within a month of starting the treatment. For long-term effectiveness, usage should begin when water temperatures reach 10°C. This is around April in the UK and continues monthly until daily temperatures drop below 10°C.

“Clean Pond Pods are perfect for clearing large and small ponds of algae and are a great blanket weed buster. The easy dosing system reduces and controls unpleasant, smelly, dirty water, giving you a healthy, clear pond. They encourage plant growth and flowering, boost filter bacteria and are suitable for use in all ponds, including those that are planted, wildlife or koi, as well as other fishponds.”
