Pink duo to honour NHS staff and plantsman Reg Lawrence
Making their debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021 were two new Chrysanthemums in pretty shades of pink, introduced by Chrysanthemums Direct.
Released as part of the award-winning late Gordon Dowson collection, the two striking new seedlings bring vibrant colour to autumn beds, borders and the show bench. Vibrant pink NHS Rainbow got its name in honour of the National Health Service staff who worked tirelessly throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The pale pink Reg Lawrence honours the founder of the parent company, RF Lawrence and Sons. The bloom honours Reg, who sadly passed away in March 2020.

Love for Chrysanthemums
Sales manager Martyn Flint said: “Many customers will remember meeting Reg at shows or the open weekends at the nursery. He was always ready to talk about his love for Chrysanthemums, or many other subjects. He concentrated on bloom varieties since the late 1970s. Thanks to his tireless dedication, we are now the only large-scale producer for the cut flower trade in the UK.
“Since the formation of Chrysanthemums Direct in 2008, Reg has had a close interest in our achievements. He was especially proud of our record of awards won at the many shows we attended over the years. He was awarded the National Chrysanthemum Society’s Silver Medal in 2012. We think he would have loved this floral dedication to him.”
