Review: Full-size luxury can that makes watering that much easier
The popular Burgon & Ball Waterfall watering can is now available in a full-size 9-litre capacity as well as the original 5-litre size. I’m lucky enough to be part of an ongoing trial this summer.
It’s one of two new watering cans for both indoor and outdoor watering. I have to say, straight away, this is an expensive item at £49.99, but it’s one for keeps. How many times have you bought cheap watering cans for a tenner, only to have to continually replace them?
I was particularly interested to see how it performs in the greenhouse and outside, filling up from water butt taps. Recovering from a knee injury, the ergonomic slimline oval shape means it doesn’t bang into your legs while walking.
Burgon & Ball Waterfall watering can – clever design
It features a single-handed hold so you don’t twist your back. The clever design means gravity helps the handle slide gently through the fingers as it’s used. As the can gets emptier, the more it tips. The comfortable roll-edged handle is easy to hold and doesn’t cut into the hand.
It also fits neatly under the water butt taps on both my full-size and slimline containers. The wide opening means less chance of spills if the water flow is irregular (mine always is)!
My 9-litre Waterfall can is in slate grey, although it also comes in British racing green. The galvanised steel gets a tough powder coating to ensure rust resistance and long life. There’s a five-year guarantee on performance, excluding cosmetic changes in appearance due to wear and tear.
Indoor watering can colours
If you’re an indoor gardener, Burgon & Ball’s small indoor watering can comes in two new colours. Reflecting interior trends, choose from Pale Jade (cool green) and Heritage Blue (mid-blue with a grey hint).
Just 12cm high, holding 0.7 litres and with a fine spout for a targeted pour, these stylish little watering cans are ideal for houseplants and succulents.
