Wildlife-attracting seed mix raises cash for Children In Need

Mr Fothergill’s introduces a third variety, with 30p from each packet going to charity

Mr Fothergill’s has added to its children’s range in partnership with BBC Children in Need, with a wildlife-attracting seed mix. Supplied with simple instructions to sow in a pot or a flowerbed, youngsters will love creating a pretty haven for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.

Featuring the iconic Pudsey Bear character on the packaging, the product contains a blend of hardy and half-hardy annuals and perennials, all of which attract pollinators and beneficial insects. The new flower mix joins Pudsey Sunflower and Pudsey Pumpkin packets and costs £2.99. A total of 30p from each product sold will benefit Children in Need. Read more about wildflowers.

Grow beautiful flowers to bring bees and butterflies into your garden. This easy-to-grow mix will provide a colourful, long flowering display. Each packet contains 1g in weight of seeds, so you’ll have plenty of flowers.

Sow directly into a pot of compost or a flower bed if the weather is warm, from April to June. Cover lightly with fine compost or soil, water in and keep moist. Seedlings will appear within a few weeks, and plants will begin to flower from around June to October. Suitable for borders and containers. Deadhead flowers to extend the flowering season.

Check out the other varieties in the range. Sunflower Pudsey is a hardy annual, easy to germinate and fast-growing, with huge heads on giant stems, 75 seeds for £2.49. Pumpkin Pudsey is perfect for carving at Halloween with sweet-tasting orange flesh, great for pies, 10 seeds for £2.49.
