Blog: A rare message from the sickbed…
If anyone out there thinks I’ve given up the website, I haven’t but I am giving myself time off to recover from illness. I haven’t been well for months and found out I have a partially collapsed lung last December. That explains the breathlessness and really bad fatigue!
However, after a routine minor operation on March 6, my breathlessness has got worse and I’ve been feeling very unwell with pain in my lung and back. After my GP sent me to Same Day Emergency Care with a suspected blood clot on the lung last week, I had a load of tests. Luckily, a blood clot was virtually ruled out but other things were flagged.
The doctor did ask me if I had been on any long-haul trips lately. “Only to Stoke Newington for wool shopping,” was my reply. He cracked a smile. There are markers for infection and inflammation, so I could have a virus like glandular fever on top of the lung problems. I have a face like a hamster, my lymph nodes are so swollen!
Giving myself time off to recover from illness – gardening takes a back seat
I’m now gearing myself up for Saturday when I’m having a CT scan on the lung to rule out ‘anything suspicious’. It is a case of rest and time at the moment. All of this means my gardening efforts are zero. Luckily, Vanessa has started watering the conservatory plants. While I sat there on Tuesday, she sowed her first seeds. This is the first time in my life I haven’t sown a thing.
This affects all my other health issues and if you’re an anxious self-employed person, it’s no fun. Trying to keep my head above water here… I’m hoping that I’ll be able to post during my recovery.
