This trio of annuals exclusive to Thompson & Morgan really caught my eye – they all have flowers with unusual colours that will create quite an impact.
Flowers with unusual colours – Zinnia Queeny Mixed
This unusual mix is billed as Thompson & Morgan’s Flower of the Year. It has unusual chocolate-lime colouring and large double blooms. The flowers sit above tall, upright stems which emerge in shades of cocoa brown before gradually fading to lime green. Height: 60-80cm (24-31”). Read more on growing Zinnias.
Cosmos Apricot Lemonade
A breakthrough from T&M’s breeding programme, these Cosmos blooms open in a shade of soft apricot with a pale lavender underside, before fading to a pale creamy yellow. The mauve-pink ring around the centre of each bloom adds a lovely extra detail. Height: 50-70cm (20-27″).
Flowers with unusual colours – Nasturtium Baby Deep Rose
Unusual deep rosy-pink blooms set this gorgeous variety apart from traditional types. It is easy to grow, and ideal for filling pots, hanging baskets, or using as ground cover. Height: 30-35cm (12-14″). Read more on the best nasturtiums to grow.
incredicoir
One of the best products to grow your flowers with unusual colours in is incredicoir. It is very useful for gardeners like me who have to take their gardening centre purchases home on the bus or pay to have them delivered. It’s the latest in the incredi range. A coir block, which makes up to the equivalent of a 10-litre bag of peat-free compost once you add water.
