A range of new shrubs has been launched by Thompson & Morgan, which includes flowers for attracting pollinators, blooms for smaller gardens, exotic, hardy evergreen foliage, plus a patio rose and space-saving raspberry.
New shrubs – Hibiscus Flower Tower Collection (H. syriacus)
Perfect for tight spaces, Hibiscus Flower Tower Collection’s plants are just 75cm wide, so they make a great choice for narrow borders, containers, balconies and courtyard corners.
With a columnar habit, plants can reach up to 3 metres tall but can be pruned. The densely branching towers are packed with blooms from late summer to autumn. Drought-tolerant, once-established blooms attract insect pollinators.

New shrubs – Callistemon Trio
This trio of new Callistemon varieties have compact growth, evergreen foliage, exotic flowers and improved winter hardiness. Flowering from May to July, Callistemon have unusual bottlebrush blooms and arching branches. Leave these plants to form a bushy shrub or train on a trellis to create a wall specimen.
Stiff, evergreen, narrow foliage provides valuable winter interest with an aromatic lemon scent. Varieties available: Amarette, yellow-flowered Honeypot and orange Inferno.

Fatsia japonica Camouflage
Large, deeply dissected leaves splashed with green gold, give a tropical look to the garden. Clusters of globular white flowers open from September to November, followed by black berries.
Tough, hardy and reliable, this evergreen shrub offers year-round interest and will brighten dry, shady corners or make a handsome specimen plant in a container.

Princess Pink is the first double-flowered variety with a compact habit, making this new dwarf variety perfect for smaller borders and large containers.
Princess Pink’s upright stems are cloaked with bright pink, saucer-shaped blooms from May to September, on this neat, free-flowering shrub. Tough and reliable, this Lavatera thrives in most situations with little maintenance.

Rose Everglow Ruby
Rose Everglow Ruby bears masses of vivid crimson flowers on a compact, well-branched shrub. They bring colour and attract pollinators to patio containers, courtyards or smaller borders.
Every single bloom features a golden yellow stamen and a star pattern in the centre, which changes from creamy yellow to bright white as it matures. This new cultivar is self-cleaning, dropping its blooms once they’ve faded. No deadheading needed!

New shrubs – Raspberry Tree (Rubus Hararasp)
Developed by Japanese breeder Toshikhiko Hara, this ground-breaking new Raspberry Tree develops thick overwintering stems. The plant is trained to form upright ‘trees’ with a strong, central trunk, supporting a crown of fruiting branches. With glossy and shiny berries, the fruit is attractive. It also has early fruit ripening and a long harvest period.
It doesn’t take up much space, give it a sunny spot where it will make an attractive and edible feature. Enjoy white blossom in spring, followed by fruit in May and June. Hararasp is a disease-resistant Floricane-type, with tolerance to heat and drought.
