Takeover creates the largest online gardening group in the UK

Thompson & Morgan owner BVG Group buys Suttons Seeds Ltd, including Suttons, Dobies and Organic Gardening Catalogue, making it the UK’s biggest online plant retailer.

The takeover means that the group has garden sales of more than £82million annually. In March 2017, BVG bought out Thompson & Morgan from its parent company, Branded Garden Products. Founded in 1806, Suttons has more than 200 years of experience in producing seeds, plants and equipment. The company will stay at its Paignton, Devon headquarters.

  • Van Meuwen: Starting as a bulb producer in 1973, the company diversified into mail order in 1977.
